Spada Started as the UP Cebu Fencing club established on 1997 by Anna Catherine Flores who was a member of the UP Manila Fencing Club. In time, membership grew and became composed of individuals from different schools and backgrounds. By 1998-99, the team name was changed to "SPADA" and was officially affiliated with the Philippine Amateur Fencing Association as it's Cebu chapter.

Spada is now starting to make its mark in the fencing scene here in the Philippines by joining fencing competitions here and in Manila, winning medals in competitions such as the Tour d'Escrime against Ateneo de Manila and the annual Novice Tournaments against several fencing clubs from Luzon down to Mindanao.

We aim to promote fencing in Cebu and and raise the awareness of the Cebuanos on how fun and exciting Fencing could be. We also aim to produce good fencers to represent our city to competitions around the Philippines.
